July's 11 ceilidhs!

We're so happy to have been able to play at 11 amazing weddings in July. It was a lot of miles on the road, but totally worth it to get to be part of so many lovely couple's big days (and a really fun grad ball, too!) Here's a wee re-cap of what our July was all about!

The month started off down in the borders at Melrose Corn Exchange - a really great village-hall style venue, which was a perfect space for a really fun, energetic ceilidh. Kim & Iain's guests were really fun and made the night great for everyone.

Next, we returned to Ross Priory for Mandy & Andy's wedding - this has got to be one of the best views from any venue in Scotland!

The crowd were loving the ceilidh so much at Mandy & Andy's wedding that they cancelled the DJ set and kept us ceilidh-ing all night - amazing!

After this great wedding, we were delighted to be the entertainment at Napier University Business School's Graduation Ball - such incredible energy for both the ceilidh and the DJ all night, and it was brilliant to perform at The Balmoral Hotel - a fairly swish venue to say the least. It's also safe to say that they were in fine voice!

Following this grad ball, we were back on the wedding circuit at Kirknewton Stables for Dan & Amy's wedding. We absolutely loved the fireworks, sparklers and enthusiastic dancing at their beautiful wedding!

We were staying east for our next wedding - Cailean & Sarah chose Kimpton Charlotte Square for as their venue, which is a really fantastic hotel for a wedding. The dance floor is big, the staff are friendly and helpful, and all-in-all it's one of the best places to get married in the centre of Edinburgh.

Next up was Kincaid House Hotel near Glasgow for Holly & Darren's big day. Holly actually went to primary school with me, so it was so nice to be able to perform at her big day! We loved the ice-cream stall that came in the break - so tasty!

We were very soon on the road north to Ardross Castle near Inverness for the new Mr & Mrs Quinn. This has to be one of the best-maintained, beautiful castles in Scotland! Mr & Mrs Quinn's wedding was a brilliant party, with fireworks, Ibiza-DJ Harry (who I went to college with, check out Light it Up Entertainment), and of course a really fun ceilidh in-between.

After our jaunt north, the band were down at Oxenfoord Castle near Edinburgh for Sharon & Biu's wedding. We've played at Oxenfoord a lot over the years; it's such a great place for getting married.

We also made our third visit to Cambo House in 12 months. We think it's a great venue for a wedding, with its many beautiful, unique rooms and amazing outdoor space. Cillian & Megan's wedding came on a beautiful day, so their guests were able to enjoy the outdoors. The ceilidh and DJ sets were fun, with some really smashing tunes picked by the bride and groom for the DJ part of the night.

We were back close to the 'burgh for Darima & Mike's big day - they got married at Dalhousie Castle, which is a venue we have played at loads of times over the years. Half the crowd at Darima & Mike's wedding had never ceilidh'd before, so we had great fun teaching a bunch of newbies how it's all done. It was the hottest day of the year, but that didn't stop the guests having a great time and getting involved in an energetic (if somewhat sweaty!) ceilidh.

Our final ceilidh of July was a wedding that was really special to me personally. The groom and I went to college together and have been pals for over a decade - so I was really delighted when Craig and Victoria asked for us to play at their big day. They may have missed out on the hottest day of the year and got one of the wettest(!), but that absolutely didn't dampen any spirits and it was a a truly fantastic day. Their venue was Penney Fields near Knutsford in an amazing tipi by Tipi Unique - it was really beautiful.

So, that was our July! Congratulations to all our couples who got married - we really do love playing at your special day and getting your guests dancing together. Check back soon to see how our August is going...another 11 ceilidhs this month too!
