Well, July was busy. Eleven weddings in five weeks, ceilidhs across the country, and more Strip the Willow energy than we thought possible in one month. From East Lothian to Henley-on-Thames, we had an absolute blast being part of so many brilliant celebrations.
The Wedding Ceilidhs of July
We kicked things off at Falside Mill with Sophie & Blair – a perfect setting and a crowd up for a proper dance from the get-go. Then we returned to one of our favourite Yorkshire wedding venues, Middleton Lodge, for Molly & Tom’s big day, where the dance floor was packed all night (and we may have overheard some guests saying, “best ceilidh ever” – just saying).
Next, we had a pre-wedding party at the breathtaking Gosford House for Nadine & Giovanni. Their international guests had never done a ceilidh before – but they absolutely threw themselves into it. Watching 100+ ceilidh first-timers pick up the moves, laugh their way through Dashing White Sergeant, and genuinely love it was one of the highlights of the month.
We headed north to Barnbougle Castle for Eilidh & Jake, where the setting felt straight out of a movie, and then into central Edinburgh for a wedding at the Botanic Gardens with Cameron & Anna – ceilidh dancing in among the trees was as magical as it sounds.
Then came a hop down to the Tithe Barn in Skipton for Tom & Carolina. That one turned into a bit of a ceilidh-then-disco marathon – and yes, we kept going. Next up: Kinmount House with Lauren & Martin, a stunning venue (and another crowd that needed no encouragement to fling themselves into a Gay Gordons).
We were up in the Highlands at the Strathpeffer Pavilion with Iona & Christopher – hands down one of the most enthusiastic dancefloors of the summer – and then back south for Lisa & George at Harelaw Farm, where the barn setting made for a perfect, rustic ceilidh atmosphere.
To round off the month, we played for Jenny & Emil at Merriscourt in the Cotswolds, then straight to Henley-on-Thames for Katy & John. That one was a big, joyful ceilidh ending to a very full (and very fun) month.
Ceilidh First-Timers? Bring It On
One thing we loved about this month was the number of guests who were doing a ceilidh for the first time. Whether it was international visitors or just friends of the couple who’d never been flung around a dancefloor before, it was brilliant to see people dive in with total enthusiasm.
Ceilidhs are such a great ice-breaker at weddings – we get everyone on the floor, we call through every dance, and you don’t have to know a thing beforehand. The laughter, chaos, and group spirit really set the tone for the whole night.
Ceilidh + DJ = Wedding Win
Every one of July’s couples booked us for both the ceilidh and the DJ set after – and it’s a great combo. High-energy live music to get things going, then a smooth handover into a banging playlist to take you through to the end of the night. Simple, seamless, and keeps the dancefloor full.

From Edinburgh to Henley – and Everywhere In Between
We travelled everywhere this month – from the Borders to the Highlands, Yorkshire to Oxfordshire. It’s always a joy to see new venues (and familiar ones too), and our setup means we’re ready to go wherever the wedding takes us.
